Last year was a phenomenal year that witnessed many political, religious and economic ups and downs. 2016 may have been great or not too satisfactory for you; but the decision to make 2017 better surpasses all accomplishment and defeats of the previous years.

- SET GOALS: another talk on goal setting, huh? Yes! (0_0) Setting goals gives you some kind of direction, you begin to live consciously and purposefully. Make goals Specific, Measurable, Realistic and Time bound. Don’t say this year I want to lose 42kg or This year I want to be richer instead say Every morning I will do 50 press-up or This year I will make $500,000 in Passive income through internet. The difference is that the first set is merely a generic statement but the second set is proper goal setting. Caution: Don’t just know your goals. Get a journal and Write it down! Perhaps in your 2017 journal or another journal you will make available for that.
- READ: Ralph rightly said,” When you meet a man of rare intellect you should ask what books he reads.” Books are our window on the past, prediction of the future and the developer of the present. Make a reading list and stick to it. Make a goal to read ‘x’ numbers of books by the end of 31st December, 2017. Realise the need to learn and unlearn: Check out our suggestion on books you may start with e.g. Seven Habits of Successful People, How to Win Friends and Influence people. Keep a notebook where you can summarise the vital things you learn from the book. Remember to refer to the book every night (recommended!) to keep the lessons afresh.
- JOURNAL: Journaling is very effective way to record one’s daily event, review actions geared towards realisation of our goals. Friends, don’t miss the glorious moments in 2017 get a journal (see our recommendations!): write! Write! Write!
- RELAX: Prosper was right when he remarked, “the truth is you only live life once, but if you live well: once is enough!” You are not a robot — “I will be right there,” “ I will do that in matter of minutes, ”Oh I forgot” “Yes Sir/Ma!” — take a break! TD jakes was right when he said we are too busy making a living that we lost the ability to make a life. Have fun this year. Create time for your family and loved ones. Share the happiness. Still don’t know how to create time to relax on that sandy beach, to go for that long-delayed vacation? Tim Ferris’ Four Hour week book should lead you on.
- SCHEDULE: Many, roughly 60% of us, can’t account for what we did last year. Many only remember that they woke up, ate and wasted productive times on things that ought to have the lowest priorities — liking all the pictures on Instagram, stalking on Facebook, Retweeting vain tweets, and watching videos not worth the time. The bad news is that time flies but the good news is you are the pilot! Take charge of your time! Take charge of your life. How? Use a daily planner (See our recommendations) and schedule the next day a night before. You can schedule your whole year using a giant calendar. (that’s a tip of high flyers in life.)
- ACT: Let me ask you a question: For how many years have that entrepreneurial idea lingered in your mind. The truth is there is a 99% possibility is that idea is the BIG NEXT THING! And there is a 100% possibility it is never the BIG NEXT THING because you took no action. I love the book Die empty! It is dangerous to die with the idea that was THE BIG NEXT THING THAT NEVER EXISTED. The smallest action, I believe, is greater than the greatest aspiration. Likewise, is it that job you have always hated? Take action! Pull off the golden handcuff and Live a life of freedom. (Let these resources lead you through!)
- CHECK YOUR NETWORK OF FRIENDS: I hope you are not in the dark that you are the average of the five people you spend your time most with. Many of us spend our time with people who add no values to our life and surprisingly — we are comfortable with that. Your friends can make or mar you. The Bible says Walk with the wise and become wise, for a companion of fools suffers harm? — Proverbs 13:20 (NIV). Meet Like-minded people, discuss ideas, share moments and soar together — Live life of eagles not chickens! You are the CEO of your life you can promote, demote or terminate anyone from your life. For entrepreneurs, Mark (Laptop Millionaire Author) remarks,” you are who you spend your time with.”
- SEE THINGS DIFFERENTLY: a cup is either half full or half empty; it illustrates the perspective. See things in a new light and there will be a whole lot of difference. Whether you think you can do it or not, either ways you are right. What you see should be of optimism not pessimism, of hope not despair, of challenge not problems, of profit not loss, of life not death, of a great future not destruction. What you see is what you get!
- ADD VALUE: Be a value adding personality, it is high time you started giving back when we mention the name Mother Teresa, charity comes to mind, when we mention the name Nelson Mandela; freedom fighting and sacrifice comes to mind. The immortality and trillion-dollar question is when your name is mentioned, what comes to mind?
When your name is mentioned, what comes to mind?
Financially,
it is your level of VALUE that determines your flow of Money. One
secret is no one ever buys a product, what they buy is the value
embedded in such product.
No
man has ever achieved immortality without adding value. Socrates said
he who must change the world must first change himself same way he who
must add value to the world must first add value to himself- add value
to yourself by reading & applying self-development strategies gotten
from books, reading blogs like this regularly
10. THE NEW ME: the new me? You must be kidding! No, what you think of yourself matters a lot. You have the power to revolutionise who
you have been to be who you want to be or just be the old you. The New
me is a philosophy we all adopt every new year when we make new year
resolutions. The new you can only manifest when you change your
thinking, challenge age-long barriers, and believe you are a new person.
Go into the world and turn heads! Make them wonder: did we not see him/her in 2016?
